More than lessons - A personal approach to music
At Canseco Music Atelier, lessons are about more than learning notes or practicing scales—they’re about helping each student discover their instrument, their confidence, and their relationship with music.
Every student is different. Some are just beginning, some are naturally expressive, and others are still learning how to come out of their shell. My approach meets them exactly where they are, adapting to their pace, personality, and learning style.
Music as Structure, Focus, and Growth
Over time, I’ve seen that consistent musical practice can do more than build skill—it can support focus, patience, and confidence in other areas of life.
Some students I’ve worked with—particularly those who struggle with attention, learning differences, or reading comprehension—begin to show gradual improvements in:
-
Focus and task follow-through
-
Listening and pattern recognition
-
Confidence in learning new skills
While every student’s journey is different, music provides a structured and engaging environment that can help reinforce these habits in a natural way.

Building Confidence Through Creativity
One of the most important parts of my teaching isn’t just technical skill—it’s confidence.
Music has a unique way of helping students open up, take risks, and express themselves in ways they might not elsewhere. Whether it’s singing for the first time, writing a simple melody, or playing in front of family, those moments matter.
I guide students through that process in a way that feels supportive, not pressured.
A Modern, Real-World Approach to Music
Today’s students don’t just want to play music—they want to understand it, create it, and connect with it.
Lessons can include:
-
Learning favorite songs
-
Intro to songwriting and creativity
-
Music theory & applied improv (for beginners)
-
Sight reading (on-the-fly)
-
Basic recording and production (for interested students)
This keeps students engaged long-term and gives them a deeper connection to what they’re learning.
Designed for Families
All lessons are taught in-home throughout West Austin, making the experience convenient, consistent, and comfortable for families.
My approach is to create a structured but relaxed environment where students can grow each week—without adding stress to busy schedules.
The Goal
Not every student will become a professional musician—and that’s not the point.
The goal is to help each student:
-
Develop a real skill
-
Build confidence
-
Strengthen focus and discipline
-
And enjoy music for life
